Shade at the Waterfall

So in the summer of 2010, I took a needed vacation back home (New Brunswick) to relax
and refresh.

I have known Shade (from NB) online for a while. I Met her on rubberpal, and she's quite
the latex fetishist - more into the heavy stuff, gasmasks etc. A while ago she told me
"you should let me know next time you are in NB, we should meet". Since I was seeing
Phoenix at the time, this didn't feel right, so I didn't.

But after the breakup, things are different (one has to take advantages of silver
linings in life if things are to be bearable). So about a month prior to my trip I
contacted her saying that I would be in town and that we should go out for coffee.
I didn't really had any expectations for anything more. However, a conversation sprung
up, and she seemed quite interested. So I mentioned I would bring my camera, because
she really enjoys photos of her being taken.

These photos are the results of these discussions and following meeting. As you can see
this was most fortuitous indeed! Shade suggested the location, the Dickson Falls at
the Fundy National Park. This was a public location, which made it rather... daring.
But it worked out beautifully :). As the images are pretty big, I will be dividing
this into 2 parts, the link to the second part is at the bottom of the page. So
let's get on with it!

Because of logistics and such, we rented a hotel room in Moncton to prepare. We check
in, she dresses up in a long sleeved leotard latex top, and latex pants. At this point,
the latex isn't shined, so it looks a bit weird but not too bad. I'm in cotton. We
are concerned about rain, but what can you do?

We drive to Fundy National Park some minor hassles - fog shows up, a few wrong turns
in the park, but nothing major. We park, take our gear out, and head on the path. We
get a few curious looks from some people, but get little attention overall. There is
no rain, and the cloud-cover is complete but thin, and the light is nicely diffuse
and silvery.

We reach the fall... first major hitch. How do we get there? There is now this boardwalk
and it's completely blocked off (look at the photo to see). We move to the top of
the fall, find a nice wide spot on the stream (and it's not boarded up anymore) and
decide to shoot there. I should mention that the water was cold.

Quite cold.

Of course, first Shade has to get ready... and the more she's getting ready
(waist cincher, hood, gloves, high heels, gas mask, latex being shined...) the less
she looks like someone in maybe a wetsuit, and more like well, a shiny-black bizarre
sex-bomb.

The tourists are starting to be a bit more... inquisitive. We got one (only
one!) dirty look, a lot of "I'm not looking", even more "I'm pretending not to be looking".

Some of the kids who passed by were completely indifferent. Others however were *completely*
mesmerized. One commented that it was the first time he had seen a gas mask... their
parents stood back and simply observed their sons' reaction. I thought it was pretty
neat that they let them well, experience instead of just urging them away.

I did some directing, and also let Shade take some initiative too. It worked out
pretty well. I had the brilliant idea of bringing rubber boots, and I'm quite glad I
did, a lot of these shots would have been impossible otherwise.

Here I was trying to get Shade to take a certain position to create a certain "look"

And suddenly she does this, rather perplexing me:

It turns out that there were some she's giving thumbs up to some tourists who are also
taking photos! One of them explained himself by saying "if I don't take a photo no
one will ever believe me!". I was so much in the "zone" at that point I hadn't even
seen them. I wonder is Shade is in another photo album somewhere, or what that tourist's
friends thought of the story!

This was my idea, and I never quite got the timing right... ah well.

I'm particularly happy with this one.

At this point, Shade got fully in the water... and rather noisily let me know how
cold it was. Twas a bit hard to concentrate, but I kept shooting.

And after that, we decided to switch location - that's it for now folks! I hope you
enjoyed it! It continues in part 2 :)
